Glossary

Zenith names things after the night sky. The image is the flavour; the plain meaning is the truth. This page gives the plain meaning of every term across the suite, in one A–Z list.

A term used in only one app carries that app's name in brackets, like Comet (Launcher). When two apps use the same word for different things, each meaning gets its own entry, like Sky (Launcher) and Sky (Calendar). A term with no app name means the same thing everywhere in the suite. A (Gold) tag marks a feature that comes with that app's paid upgrade.

All apps (Launcher) — Every app installed on your phone. The launcher shows them two ways: the star index (by gesture) and deep sky (a searchable list).

Almanac (Calendar) — One of your calendars: a named, coloured layer of commitments, such as personal, work or a holiday calendar. Tap the "almanacs" button at the bottom right for the legend; hold it for the binder.

Apply / default icon pack (Icon Pack) — The launcher setting that themes every matched app at once with a chosen icon pack.

Ask the sky — The AI assistant built into Zenith apps. Type or say a request and it answers, and it can act when you allow it. Each app has its own ask the sky, but they share keys, the being and lenses. See Ask the Sky across the suite.

Asteroid ↻ (Calendar) — A commitment that repeats: weekly, every other week, monthly or by a longer rule.

#B

Being — The "who" whose voice frames each reply from ask the sky. Also called a tulpa. Beings are chosen in Zenith AI for the whole suite; with none chosen, it's Cielo.

Binder (Calendar) — The page that holds all your almanacs, in order. Hold the "almanacs" button to open it.

Breathe (Launcher) — An optional pause before a chosen app opens. Set it on a star you don't want to open by accident.

Brief (Calendar) — A day's commitments as a list along the bottom of the sky, in every view. It ends in "view in" for the other views.

Broker — The suite's private shelf on your phone. Signed Zenith apps share keys, settings and the Shuttle through it. One installed app hosts it for the others. See The Zenith Suite & broker.

Burn (Calendar) — Delete a commitment, or remembered talks. The first tap asks "sure?"; a second tap does it.

Card (Calendar) — One commitment as its own small file, sent from its page. Opened on another phone, it lands on an almanac with the same name.

Category (Icon Pack) — A named group in the pack's catalogue (System, Zenith Features, Cosmos and so on), used by manual icon pickers.

Celestial (Calendar) — The almanac of events in the sky that comes with the calendar.

Cielo — The one who answers when you ask the sky, unless Zenith AI names another being. Cielo comes with every Zenith app and can't be removed.

Comet (Launcher) — A notification, drawn drifting across the sky. Catch one to open, dismiss or snooze it.

Commitment (Calendar) — Anything on your calendar. It's a meteor if it happens once, an asteroid if it repeats, or a fixed star if it comes back every year.

Component name (Icon Pack) — The exact identifier of an app's launch screen. Phone makers and app versions can differ here, which is why theming can vary by device.

Connection (Calendar) — The one outside source that feeds an almanac, found under "what comes in" on its page. It also names Settings › connections, where the Google accounts every Zenith app shares are linked.

Deep sky (Launcher) — The full A–Z list of every app, searchable and scrollable.

Direct (Launcher) — Your pin inbox: things other apps have sent into Zenith, such as a bookmark, file, note or playlist.

Dock (Launcher) — The ring's row of edit buttons, shown while a ring is open.

Docket (Calendar) (Gold) — On a wide screen, the side panel beside the sky, where the day's details rest and pages open.

Drop (Calendar) — Delete an almanac and everything in it. Also, letting a Shuttle item go on a day to make a commitment.

Eclipse (Calendar) — Hide an almanac while keeping everything in it. Tap its chip in the legend.

Evening bell (Calendar) — A notification the evening before one commitment, set by hand or by its almanac.

Expand (Calendar) — The sheet that adds material, a section to fill in, a look or a journal note to one commitment. Its page › "⊕ expand".

Fan (Calendar) — In the year view, a picked day's commitments spread inside the year ring.

Feature icon (Icon Pack) — A Zenith glyph for a launcher surface (search, gestures, comets and so on) rather than for an app. It never applies itself; you place it by hand.

Fill-in section (Calendar) — A small form on a commitment, headed "what you fill in": tick boxes, short entries, sliders, choices, dates or notes.

Fixed star ✦ (Calendar) — A commitment that comes back every year.

Flick (Launcher) — A quick swipe made before a hold lands. Bind one to a fast action.

Flight (Calendar) — Flying from the year into a picked body and back: into the earth for the day view, into the moon for the week.

Folder (Launcher) — A star that holds other stars. Open it and a nested ring of its contents blooms.

Icon pack (Icon Pack) — An app that carries a set of icons and a table of which icon belongs to which app, so a launcher can swap your apps' icons for themed ones.

Joined by (Calendar) — The people with you for a commitment, picked from your contacts one at a time. Their names stay inside Zenith and are never written into a phone or Google calendar.

Journal (Calendar) — What you write, filed on a day: about a commitment, a day, or nothing in particular.

Key (AI) — The key from your AI service that lets ask the sky answer. It's stored encrypted on your phone and shared by every Zenith app. See Shared keys & connected accounts.

Key (Calendar binder) — The binder's legend of what an almanac's look means, "HOW TO READ AN ALMANAC". Not an AI key.

Launcher — The app that draws your home screen and app list. Zenith Launcher is one; only launchers that support icon packs can apply Zenith Icon Pack.

Legend (Calendar) — The row of almanac chips you tap to show or hide each almanac.

Lens — A suite-wide mode that changes how ask the sky answers, never who. Lenses come from Zenith AI, so the lens control shows only when Zenith AI is installed.

List mode (Launcher) — A text-panel layout instead of rings, where folders open as cascading lists.

Lock (Calendar) — A locked almanac refuses every change until you unlock it.

Look (Calendar) — The style a commitment's page wears, set for a whole almanac or for one commitment.

Mapping (Icon Pack) — The pairing of an app's launch screen with an icon. A match is what makes an icon apply by itself.

Mark (Calendar) — The small symbol or picture an almanac or commitment wears on the sky. A picture as an almanac's mark is (Gold).

Masking (Icon Pack) — A launcher forcing every icon into one shape, which can clip an icon's corners.

Material (Calendar) — Files attached to an almanac that its commitments share, such as a lesson, a chapter or a handout, so there's no second copy.

Meteor ☄ (Calendar) — A commitment that happens once.

My sky (Launcher) (Gold) — A live wallpaper of the real night sky above you, placed by your location and the time.

My sky (Calendar) (Gold) — The real stars over where you are, drawn behind the calendar.

Node (Launcher) — The record behind one item in a sky: its type, label, colour, place and contents. On a ring, a node shows as a star.

Orbit (Launcher) — How far a star sits from the centre of its ring. Drag a star in or out to change it.

Orbit (Calendar) — Your year, drawn as a ring round the sun with today's earth and moon riding it. Also called the year ring.

Orrery (Calendar) — The calendar's whole screen: your year drawn as an orbit round the sun, with the earth and moon on it.

Quick ring (Launcher) — A small floating ✦ bubble over every app. Tap it and the ring blooms, so you can open something without leaving what you're in.

Region (Launcher) — A zone of the sky that groups stars, like a page or category. You can have up to nine.

Region index (Launcher) — A region set so that holding in it opens the star index instead of its own ring.

Ring (Launcher) — The wheel of your apps that blooms under your finger when you hold the sky.

Ritual (Launcher) — A folder that opens everything inside it at once, in order.

Shuttle — The suite's shared tray for passing text and files between Zenith apps. Items stay until you remove them, and it's one list for every app. See The Shuttle.

Sky (Launcher) — Your home screen: the whole dark surface you touch to open rings. Also a full saved layout you can switch between.

Sky (Calendar) — The whole calendar screen: one canvas that becomes each view.

Sparkler (Launcher) (Gold) — The brightest setting of the touch trail's sparks.

Star (Launcher) — An app, folder or shortcut you've placed on a ring.

Star index (Launcher) — The quick A–Z picker for all your apps: a half-circle of letter groups you slide across.

Stock almanac (Calendar) — An almanac that came with the calendar: the holiday, sky and astrology almanacs. They come locked and never count toward the free three.

Takeover (Calendar) — A commitment's full page, which takes over the screen.

Talisman (Launcher) — A gesture shortcut: draw a shape quickly on the sky to trigger its action.

The morning (Calendar) — A notification once at dawn listing today's commitments. It starts off.

Time spin (Calendar) — In the year view, hold the earth and circle the orbit. Each full loop rolls a year forward or back.

Travel (Calendar) — Moving an almanac's commitments into a Google calendar in your own account, so your other devices have them.

Tulpa — Another name for a being: the "who" behind ask the sky's replies.

Twinkle (Launcher) (Gold) — A shimmer around your fingertip.

Usage as light (Launcher) — An option that makes the apps you open most often shine brighter.

Veil (Launcher) — The privacy curtain that covers the launcher when the screen sleeps. It's a cover, not device security; your phone's own lock still guards it.

Volume (Calendar journal) — The whole journal as one saved file. Not the sound volume.

What comes in (Calendar) — The one outside source that feeds an almanac, or none if you fill it by hand.

What goes out (Calendar) — Where what you write in an almanac is copied to, set apart from what feeds it.

Year ring (Calendar) — See Orbit (Calendar).

#Z

Zenith actions (Launcher) — The accessibility helper that lets your gestures do system things, like locking the screen or opening the notification shade. It reads nothing from your screen.

Zenith Gold — The one-time upgrade sold inside a Zenith app. Each app has its own, and one app's Gold never unlocks another. See Zenith Gold across the suite.

Zenith Guard — The on-phone safety check that reads every request to ask the sky and every reply. See AI safety — Zenith Guard & consent.
