Zenith Launcher and Zenith Icons are developed by Black Syntax and published by Friend Castle. Zenith has no servers, no accounts, and no analytics. There is nowhere for your data to go, and we designed it that way on purpose.
what we collect
Nothing. Zenith does not collect, store off your device, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. We have no backend to receive it. The apps you open, the constellations you build, your notifications, and your location never leave your device to reach us — because there is no "us" server to reach.
the one thing that leaves your device
If you turn on the weather or "My Sky" feature, Zenith sends your location — rounded to roughly the nearest kilometre — to the public Open-Meteo weather service (open-meteo.com) to fetch current conditions and place the stars. No account, no identifier, nothing else is sent. If you never enable weather, no network request is ever made. Open-Meteo's own privacy terms apply to that request.
permissions, and exactly why
Every permission below is optional. Zenith works without any of them.
- Location (coarse) — only to fetch weather and render the real night sky. Rounded before it is ever used or sent. Never stored, never sent anywhere but the weather request above.
- Notification access ("Zenith comets") — reads new notifications so they can drift across your sky as catchable comets. Notification titles are shown as comets on your device only, never stored, never transmitted. Turn the comets feature off and nothing is read.
- Accessibility service ("Zenith actions") — an assistive input method. It lets gestures and on-screen controls perform system actions (home, back, recents, lock, notification shade, quick settings, screenshot, power) for people who cannot use hardware buttons or system swipe gestures, and it powers screen-reader and haptic navigation of the rings. It is configured to read nothing from your screen (
canRetrieveWindowContent="false"); it only performs the actions you assign. It does not collect or transmit anything. - Calendar (read) — only if you enable the "next event" overlay, to show your upcoming event. Read on-device, shown on-device, never sent.
- Vibrate — for haptic feedback.
data storage
Everything Zenith saves — your constellations, settings, talismans, custom icons — stays in Zenith's private storage on your device. A "star chart" backup file is created only when you choose to export one, to a location you pick. It is never uploaded anywhere by Zenith.
this website
zenith.blacksyntax.com serves no third-party scripts, sets no cookies, and runs no analytics. Fonts are self-hosted, so loading this page contacts no one but this domain. If you join the waitlist, we store only the email address you type and the date it arrived — no IP address, no user agent, nothing else — and we will use it once, to tell you the day Zenith reaches Google Play. Ask us at the address below and we will delete it.
children
Zenith collects no data from anyone, including children.
changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will ship with the app and be dated above.
